WECOME TO DASTAANGOI VOLUME 2

We get the show started with a video shot across the globe remotely, a beautiful rendition of Rang by Abi Sampa with a lovely performance by Vidya Patel.

Our first guest, the lovely Meesha Shafi, after flying all the way from Toronto the morning of the event, shared a beautiful story about Mian Tan Sen, the court musician of Akbar. So many lessons were shared, in not just Tan Sens story but also Meesha’s own journey.

Akbar watching as Tansen receives a lesson from Swami Haridas.

We then are taken down memory lane with Fuzon’s Khamaj, one of our favorite music videos growing up, featuring Shan.

Up next was Rabbania Shirjeel, founder of Tasveer Ghar with an original story she shared so beautifully about nostalgia and how we relate to it.

Next up, we had a beautiful instrumental rendition of Sanson Ki Mala Pe by the Leo Twins.

Sannan Mahboob, a student turned professor of music and Rabab, shared the beautiful journey that lead him to the instrument and played a heart warming rendition of Paimona Bite.

At this point we all needed a little dance, who better than Ali Sethi to serve the tunes taking us to rural Punjab with a beautiful video shot by our friend Umar Riaz.

And finally the ever so talented and hilarious Sarmad Khoosat! Telling us about Gujjar Jats and performing a beautiful story by Asad Muhammad Khan called Ali Gujjar ki Akhri Kahani.

He had also dressed the part of the Gujjar in a dhoti, made by our Volume 1 storyteller, Yousaf Bashir Qureshi.

Finally, we had promised a surprise at the end and we delivered! Shahrez Syed, coming in via satellite all the way from a ranch in Idaho to play us a beautiful folk piece on his sitar

After such a beautiful evening, Waleeya and I bid everyone goodnight, and khuda hafiz. Until next time.
Bohat sara paar,
Dastaangoi Team.
